Gold for Dominic Lobalu: Abtwil runner writes history at the European Championships in Rome
Not only in football are there so-called “summer fairy tales”, but also in athletics. Dominic Lobalu wrote one such story on Wednesday evening at the European Championships in Rome. The refugee from South Sudan, who now lives in Abtwil and trains at LC Brühl, won the gold medal over 10’000 metres.
For Dominic Lobalu, a dream came true a few weeks ago: he was allowed to compete for Switzerland at a major international event for the first time. In Rome, the 25-year-old runner won bronze over 5000 metres and gold over 10’000 metres.
Fitness partner update Fitness: “We are incredibly proud of Dominic Lobalu. His success is proof of what can be achieved with hard work and determination. As his personal fitness partner, we are happy to be able to support him on his journey. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement.
